Nelson's
first and only Farmers' Market is located at Fashion Island in Hardy St. This offers inner city convenience, with plenty of parking nearby.
The Nelson market is designated
"A Farmer's Market" which means that produce is grown by the farmer presenting it for sale, and that it was grown locally. This ensures fresh, high quality produce is brought to the consumer at a reasonable price.
Everybody gains with this unique consumer-farmers market place. The consumer understands the importance of environmentally friendly, locally grown food and the farmer, with consumer feedback, is able to diversify and gear production to the needs of the marketplace.
Our Promise To You
• To create a Nelson marketplace for the sale of fresh, nutritious, locally grown produce that is sold directly to the consumer by local growers.
• To provide an attractive European-style market venue in a central square around a cafe where growers and shoppers are able to communicate directly with one another.
• To encourage this 'one on one' connection as it gives feedback to the growers who are then able to adapt their production to the special needs of the buying public.
• To work closely with local producers of high quality fruits, vegetables and other food items, nearby communities, non-profits and charities, for the enrichment of all our lives.
