The Honey Company Ltd is situated in the heart of Marlborough, at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. The honey we export is gathered from the broad river valleys of the Wairau, soaring mountains of the Awatere Valley to the native forests and the far reaches of the Marlborough Sounds.

The Honey Company processes and exports high quality honeys and honey products that are harvested by local beekeepers. Accurate documentation ensures each batch is fully traceable back to its origin in the field.

The Honey Company is 100% NZ owned and operated by Darren Clifford who has shown a passion for bees and honey for over 18 years. Darren pursued this passion by first establishing Blaycliff Apiaries and then setting up The Honey Company. Blaycliff is primarily responsible for the development and growth of bee hives in the Marlborough region.
The Honey Company is committed to processing and exporting bulk honey. The Honey Company started in 2006 and is responsible for the extraction, sampling, storage and load out of quality bulk honey supplies – both within New Zealand and to the overseas markets. The Honey Company also buys honey to on sell or to use in blending varieties of honey to ensure we can meet our customers’ needs.
Our honey processing factory is a very modern factory – fitted out with stainless steel equipment. We run a full RMP – Risk Management Program – which is audited by Asure NZ on a quarterly basis. We are certified to load shipping containers for export at our factory – helping to keep down costs. The factory is managed by an experienced member of our staff and we employ four people who are seasonal employees during the processing season.
We currently export around 200 tons of bulk honey a year mainly to the EU & UK market. We also have the provision to have honey packaged (this is done on request). All bulk export honey is sealed in new food grade steel epoxy lined drums and sealed with a tamper proof seal– each drum being fully traceable.
