Authenticity & Eligibility

What does it mean to be an authentic farmers' market?

A certified authentic farmers' market is one that follows the principles of a farmers' market closely, monitoring the percentage of certified local stall holders per market day.

At least 80% of the stall holders should be certified, which means they are the grower/producer, the producer is the seller, and the food is produced locally.  The principle purpose for farmers' markets is to support the sustainability and viability of farming in the local region.  Put simply, "no farms, no food".
