Teams page upgrade

Clubs wish to set up teams in their website for many reasons, such as:

  • To create a team list for your sports association so they can organise your draws (fixtures)
  • To let you assign players to teams within your online database
  • To give each team their own website page for their photos and team communications
  • To spread the workload of keeping your website active and updated

1.        How to add a new team

Login to your website and go to your ‘Teams’ page. Note that your page may have been renamed by someone, but it is easily identifiable because it is the only page with a ‘New team’ button.

Once you have added a new team, it will be listed on your Teams page. Teams appear in the order of their Season (eg 2012) followed by the order of their Grade (you can set the order of the grades through the ‘Manage grades’ menu item from the ‘Advanced’ button). Eg:

2.        Re-using teams from last season

With each new season, you can decide whether to create a new team for the new season, or whether to use teams you may have already created in previous seasons. If your teams have been updating their team pages with photos and text from the previous season, you may wish to keep them. If so, you can leave them displayed publically on your Teams page (they will appear further down the page, listed by their year), or you can click the ‘Hide’ link to the right of the team name to hide a team from the public (eg if you wish to simply archive an old team site).

Alternatively, if a team for the current season has most of the same details as the last season, you may prefer to simply carry the old team details forward to the new season. If so, you can simply update the details for that team (such as changing its season and altering its grade if this has changed). To update the team’s details, click on the name of the team when you are logged in to the Teams page. Then change the season to the new year and modify any other details (eg grade) as required.
