FMNZ Conference speaker Lynda Hallinan...
is editor-at-large of NZ Gardener magazine. A writer, broadcaster, amateur home-brewer, pickler, preserver, part-time farmer, occasional farmers' market stallholder and mad-keen gardener, she has spent the past five years attempting to live self-sufficiently – first in the city and now in the country.
In 2007 she made an ambitious New Year's resolution to grow all her own food in her inner-city Auckland backyard. That backyard is now somewhat bigger: in 2010 she moved to a 60-acre farmlet in Hunua, south of Auckland, where she is currently developing a pick-your-own berry farm, a fancy French formal garden, heritage fruit orchards and a 500m² vegetable garden. Lynda is a passionate advocate of growing your own fresh produce and transforming it into gourmet fare.
